Default Loose Mirrors

I’m happy with the stock mirrors on my Train however they have become loose and will not stay properly adjusted. The only idea I can come up with is to adjust them, mix up some epoxy and apply to the ball area where the stem meets the housing. This of course means that they can never be re-adjusted. Do any of you guys know any other old school trick to tighten up these stock mirrors?

I went through this with my stock mirrors, loctite didn't do squat.

I bit it and got new mirrors, cranked the screws down and they haven't moved since.

Loctite won't do jack on the stock mirrors. They just dry up into a film and crack off when you adjust the mirrors. I am having the same issue and when I accelerate or cruise on the highway, I see the mirrors shake and work itself to a droopy leaf configuration pointing downwards.

I am going to try to shim the ball/socket joint with a thin sliver of stiff plastic or mylar. I figure something like the plastic packaging off a foodstuff package should work. The plastic on those things are generally stiffer but not rigid like the blister packs.

I used green (light duty) Loctite. It worked good, until I had to adjust the mirrors that is. Then I had to reapply.

How about a dab of clear silicone? Works on the mirror in my truck. Sometimes I like to play my stereo a little loud, and before the silicone the mirror would point at the floor after a few minutes. After, no more issues.

Just tightening the screws a bit worked for me several years ago. I adjusted them, tightened screws, and always sit in the same seat when I ride.

In my experience it has boiled down to the quality of mirrors. I have owned cheaper mirrors that no matter what I did they wouldn't stay tight and then I have owned some decent mirrors (which I paid a little more for) adjusted them the way I wanted them and haven't touched them since.
