Default Heritage Questions?

I have been riding motorcycles for years and began my Harley riding when I bought a new 2002 RKC that I just recently sold. Even when I bought the RK I was in love with the Heritage Classic bikes, so here I am. I have looked at the new models in person and done a lot of reading here on and off for a while and I have a couple of questions of my own.

Are the 07's problematic with the 6 speed tranny and the engine running lean and hot? Is it a mistake to buy an 07 right now? I have found a couple locally available, but do not want to make a mistake. The dealers obviously don't tell a prospective buyer they are smarter to buy a used one or wait till next year. I have heard guys with 07's getting a sert (Is the sert a remap of the ecm, and what does it intail, what does it cost?) When I bought my RKC I had the dealer do the stage 1 kit before I ever even took it out of the showroom. Should I ask about the same for the 07 or ride it a while then do it or what?

My bike will either be black, blk cherry/slvr, or blu/blk. I have looked through the pictures here on this site and have seen everything I am interested in except for the blu/blk. Does anyone know where I can find a real picture of the blu and black heritage, not off of HD's website?
I have been quoted $20,187 OTD for a black one. $20,560 OTD for a blk cherry/slver one. $22,058 OTD for the blu/blk one. Each of these is at different local dealerships.

Any other tips before I go spend my hard earned money?

By the way awesome site!

I applaud your choice. I don't know much about the '07s, but from where I sit the 06 is a great ride. By far the most comfortable bike I've ridden in my 24 riding years, once I changed out the stock seats. I don't know what the SERT is either - I'm sure someone will set you straight on that - I'm going Ness Big Sucker and whatever associated fuel map is required.

Your area's prices seem pretty standard since that's out-the-door price. Around here you can get a new Heritage Classic for just under $19K, so just over $20K OTD is prolly about right. The $22K for blue/black sounds high. $2K is a lot for paint.

Good luck in your purchase and post pics when you can!

Your prices are comparable to here in L.A. at 20,187 for black and slightly more 20,560 for color. But any color combo should be the same price. HD has a set price for black bikes and a set price for any color combo. That is MSRP and most dealers sell at MSRP.

As far as the not buying a 07, if you want it buy it, the MOCO has put a lot of time into development and I'm sure that they are a good product, they may have some bugs (like the 5th gear whine) but the warranty will cover all of that. The 96 engine and the 6 sp are nice options.

Yes the SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner) is a program and interface to remap your ECM.

I bought a 07 Heritage Late July and love it. At the 1000 mile service I added the Sert,Se slip fits, and Se air box to it and It runs great. I have 1550 trouble free miles so far, and I am not worried about the first year jitters. Fact is every year something gets improved and there is no way to keep up with it so go for it!

Bought an 07 Heritage 4 weeks ago. It did run hot, so this past weekend I put on the high flow air filter and bought the SERT. The Race Tuner simply does what the flash downloads did in past years only much better. You can control the amount of fuel. The cost is about $450.00 as opposed to the $150.00 for the flash downloads. However, you will never have to buy another flash as long as you own the bike. You can do a multitude of upgrades and us the same SERT to alter the fuel air mix and many other things. The current SERT already has a few canned MAPPS for the 07's ready for download. They are probably the same as the flash downloads. The problem I have is that I cannot find any slip-ons to fit the 07 Heritage at this time.

Has anyone found an HD or SE slip-on that will fit. Knowone in S. CA seems to have anything that will fit.

Rambler,

Is there a reason you bought the SERT rather than the PCIII?

I've had the PC's on both of my previous Road Kings. However, the PC for the 07's somehow bypasses the O2 sensors and I have no idea what that does if anything. I have jeard from numerous people that the race tuner is probably the better of the two, but it is more complicated and time consuming to fine tune. I just used one of the canned downloads for the 07 that Harley provided and as I mentioned earlier it dropped the operating temperature dramatically. Now if I could only find some slip-on pipes that would fit I will be happy. Don't want anything real loud, but slightly more than the stock pipes. Will probably have to wait for the market to catch up and produce some.

I love my 07 heritage, stage 1 rush slip ons. Rambler the rush slip ons are avaible for the 07. and they sound great. after the slip ons and remap the heritage is running great, just a tad rich I think, but noticeably cooler

Also want to know what seat you have geezer, Is that a Mustang Vintage wide solo? If so, how do you like it.

Rambler, I think the O2 sensors monitor the quality of the exhaust and allows the ECM, or SERT to make fine tune adjustments for air temp, air pressure, engine temp etc. By-passing the O2 sensors may be OK if something else is monitoring the air quailty, but the O2 sensors are there for a reason.
