I have been riding motorcycles for years and began my Harley riding when I bought a new 2002 RKC that I just recently sold. Even when I bought the RK I was in love with the Heritage Classic bikes, so here I am. I have looked at the new models in person and done a lot of reading here on and off for a while and I have a couple of questions of my own.
Are the 07's problematic with the 6 speed tranny and the engine running lean and hot? Is it a mistake to buy an 07 right now? I have found a couple locally available, but do not want to make a mistake. The dealers obviously don't tell a prospective buyer they are smarter to buy a used one or wait till next year. I have heard guys with 07's getting a sert (Is the sert a remap of the ecm, and what does it intail, what does it cost?) When I bought my RKC I had the dealer do the stage 1 kit before I ever even took it out of the showroom. Should I ask about the same for the 07 or ride it a while then do it or what?
My bike will either be black, blk cherry/slvr, or blu/blk. I have looked through the pictures here on this site and have seen everything I am interested in except for the blu/blk. Does anyone know where I can find a real picture of the blu and black heritage, not off of HD's website?
I have been quoted $20,187 OTD for a black one. $20,560 OTD for a blk cherry/slver one. $22,058 OTD for the blu/blk one. Each of these is at different local dealerships.
Any other tips before I go spend my hard earned money?
Thanks for all of the info! My wife and I went out on the search today and I saw a left over 06 Heritage Springer at one of the dealers. They have it marked down $1000.00 from MSRP. I really like the springer bikes but had never researched one before. I wonder if I could get it for cheaper than that because of it being a leftover?
What do you all think? Should I make an offer and what should I offer? Or is it worth paying more for the 07 with the new engine/tranny?
We went out looking for a Harley today and brought home four tennis rackets for us to play tennis with the kids! [&:] JK it will be fun....
I've heard of dealers dropping '06 prices by as much as $3K. If the dealer won't go down in price anymore on the Springer, I would try and negotiate for a grand or two in clothing and accessories with the bike!
I just baught my 2006 Heritage in Jan. And love the bike it handles so well around town and down the highway as well. You will see a big difference in the balance motor they are different. Silky smooth around town and stop and go traffic no shake at all. Some say not as smooth at 3000 rpm and above. 3000 rpm is running around 74 MPH. I have ran 80-85 for as long as the gas would go and was fine. But If I am on the lazyboy I want to get up and move after an hour or so it's not the bike it's me. Good luck you will love the softail. Tom
I have the '07 SE slip ons on my '07 Heritage and they are an improvement over the stock mufflers. I haven't been able to find the SE air cleaner at my dealer yet. I want that and the SERT soon as the bike does run a bit hot and seems starved for air.
I found a 2006 Springer Classic that they will let go for $16295 plus tax & lic....Is this a good price? I may be able to get them down even further if I walk in with cash in hand......Should I go for it and if so what should I offer?
What are the part numbers for the Rush or SE slip-ons you are using. I've checked with every dealer in S. CA, and they all say there is nothing available at this time for the 07 Heritage Classic.
