I live in an area were noise is not accepted so I can't get the pipes
I would like as of yet. However I recently purchased an Arlen Big sucker.
Instaled it with an air cleaner cap and it looks great. My question for
you guys is. I here alot about rejeting so how could I know if I need to
rejet or not??
I took it for a spin and it runs great with no backfires or anything. The Harley
dealer that sold me the kit said that if I'm not changing the pipes yet that I
will not need to rejet...
I installed a screamin eagle air cleaner kit and a set of V&H Long Shots on my 99 evo powered heritage, after which I constantly was having to run with the enrichment **** most of the way out. I rejetted after that. I left the baffles in. The other way to tell I believe is the method of checking the plugs described in the service manual. If I remember right you go out and once at a certain speed you kill the motor and glide to a stop with the clutch pulled in so as to not be turning the motor over. Once stopped you pull the plugs and look at them for proper burn patterns.
I'll check the old manual and see if thats right, but I think it is....
As long as you don't mess with the air cleaner you don't have to rejet. but.....it will run a lot better and with more hp if you decide to do the download. I put on seII slip ons and didn't do the download at first.
