Default Steel or Aluminum laced profile wheels?

Been dreaming a bit here about getting a deluxe. Looked at a new Super glide the other day so now I am trying to find a Deluxe in stock to compare the two. I see the option for either steel or aluminum laced profile wheels. The aluminum wheel looks cleaner but I wonder how they hold up compared to the steel ones? Anyone out there that has had either for a while could you give me some advice about them? Which one to get? Is one more stable than the other? Easier to keep clean? That kind of thing.

My brother has the aluminum 'profile' wheel on his '06' Heritage and I have the standard wheel. They (profile) are nice but I don't think they are any easier to clean. You still have to deal with the spokes and the rim is still open. I would think the steel wheel would be a little stronger and a little heavier too. I think Harley could have gone one step further and sealed the profile wheel option to accept tubless tires. They are a lot of money for all they really are.

I didn't think they were worth the extra money either but I wanted to be sure I was right. Sometimes trying to save a buck is the wrong thing to do.

Man what a good looking bike that is. You just had to post that picture didn't you?
