Default Unbelievable!

As it was such a nice sunny day in Key Largo, thought I'd wash the bike before Christmas as it was looking a bit dusty. (The coral dust here is a nightmare, clogs your filters and coats everything)

Anyway, I noticed the chrome on my brand new HD risers was flaking off! It looks like some cheap alloy underneath. They were over a hundred bucks new, so I was expecting some 'quality' and not some cheap rubbish from China.

Is this to be expected from HD genuine parts? Is the chrome generally crap?

I will get some nice bars at some point, but the risers were a stopgap until I had the $$ to do it. Thought they would stay nice for longer than a month!

Generally speaking, HD chrome is about as good as you can get save for the very best of chroming outfits that charge $$$ for show chrome.

I don't know about good. I have several HD pieces that are flaking.Front axle covers, swingarm pivot shaft covers, head bolt caps are among a few. Many after market vendors have better chrome in my view.

Maybe somethings changed, I always believed HD chrome was as good as anything out there.

Agreed, but I think they too are using inferior vendors or processes to save themselves a ton of $$$.....

Agreed, but these have been on the bike less than a month??? And the rest of the bike hasnt suffered any.

No pitting or bubbling, just cracking & flaking like a cheap paint job.

On another post i saw where a guy in Jax. Fl. had a rust issue on his bike and it was replaced or he upgraded from the OEM to Chrome . I think it was in the Touring section. maybe check at your dealer for that as a warranty issue.

Good luck.
