as a new HD owner here in northern IL., im getting ready to put my bike away for the winter. is there anything special i need to do besides maybe putting stable in the gas?
my bike will be in a heated garage and i have a indoor outdoor HD cover for it. any suggestions would be great, thanks!! by the way.............WINTER SUCKS!!!
Do what I do in NJ. Ride the bike at least twice a month for 10 miles on any winter day that is above 40. Just bundle up like an Eskimo (who cares what you look like) and ride. When I bought my first Harley in Dec of 91 I spent the winter breaking it in!

Sorry to hear this Winter stuff, but like Cigar aggie said, move to Texas.

Its chap and leather riding, but I ride in North Texas during the winter.
People in the cages look at me like (Look at that nutcase) but hey, Im enjoying life, riding in the cold, is like riding in the wind, makes you feel ALIVE.

Winter does suck for some, but after all our heat, bring it on.[8D]

Well N.C. winters are not harsh or long. I'm treating my HD (first winter) like I treated every other bike. Ride it a few times a month even if just to the store and back. Heck, it's only for about 3 months Nov-end of Jan.

Man some of you are lucky to be able to ride so long. Once mine goes away-usually end of october[:@] I'm not riding again till march-april.

Last year a group went out in Feb, temp was in the 40's, dressed all warm. They were on an exit ramp going over a bridge and hit ice, all went down. Just scrapes and cuts, but the bikes were a mess.

I keep mine in a shed and usually the ground is way to soggy to get it out till spring.

*sigh* guess i'll go take a ride, start saying my goodbyes.

No ice here monkyman. Whenever we do get any sort of snow or ice---N.C. becomes a war zone, every school shuts down, and a state of national emergency is declared
