If you look closely at the picture of my 02 FatBoy here you will see some discoloration of the rear exhaust pipe just behind the heat shield. Not the normal blueing of incorrect tuning but more of a gold / yellow color. This pipes are Cobra's Slash cut drags that I purchase in the summer of 2001 right after I purchased the bike and have had them on there since.
Brings me to my questions. Any ideas what would be causing this? Any ideas how to clean it / remove it? ( I have tried a couple things BlueMagic Polish, Never Dull wadding. both to no avail. Have not tried the 000 steel wool yet). Have consider replacing it but have not been able to fine the same pipe. Anyone know of a place to find older versions of aftermarket parts?

Reason: clarification
that is from excessive heat. I don't think steel wool will fix it, but i really don't know. My 2002 Fatboy had some gold on the exhaust when I got it too. I tried blue job and all that other stuff to no avail. I finally bought some new exhaust. Get a tuner and that will cool the bike down a lot.
Man you got 9 - 10 years out of some pipes, pull out the ol wallet and buy one of those fat cats off of drew. hehe...... but seriously I doubt you can get it off with steel wool, I'd just go with some new pipes.
