I want to change my stock headlight out on my 06 night train. If i remember correctly, there is a mess laod of wires in the housing of the heradlight. What happens to all of these wires when you change to an aftermarket light. Ill be geting a longer headlight, maybe a 5 3/4" x 7-9" powder coated balck of course.
Anyone have pictures of this transformation that they have performed on theirs of a tutorial I can look at for my own reference?
in my sporster headlight there was a birdnest of wires from the factory. Does my night train have this, if so, what do I do with all those "other" wires. thats my question
If you're just changing out the housing for the light, then you'll just put all those wires into the new housing and plug the new bulb in. There shouldn't be anything more to do. It's not like you're going to cut out the wires and toss them away. I just changed my headlight to the new LED bulb and it was just plug and play. The only wire I found in there was the one to the bulb. I'm guessing you're making this sound a lot harder than it really will be. Just go for it already!
For the Night Train just unplug the old light add the necessary pins to the wires on the new light and either reuse the old plug or buy a new one and plug it in. They don't have a wiring harness in the headlight like some bikes. At least my 09 didn't. I put a FatBob headlight on the Train and it was just plug and play. The mount was a different story.

Your headlight should have 4 wires coming from it. 2 yellow a black and a white. I dont have the answer to your question however I am also looking to switch out my headlight for the same one your looking at. That light only comes with 2 wires, 1 red and 1 yellow. I would think the red is hot and the yellow is the ground so hook them up to the factory black and white. What do you do with the 2 factory yellow wires that are left over??? Hopefully someone can answer our question.
