found out y it was cheaper at zanottis as now I'm waiting on the mounting hardware and rubber trim had to do sum grinding cutting and bending but I'm sure it's gonna work here's a pic
So it didnt come with the rubber trim? Where did you order that from? Thanks.
I'm surprised anyone would go out of their way to install a non-functional cover in place of a speedo or other gauges. It's one of the major flaws about the Blackline. I don't get why H-D didn't do up a one piece clean tank if it isn't gonna house anything. Seems like a cheap afterthought to me.

A one piece "clean" tank is a lot harder to pull of with a fuel injected bike. The fuel pump/filter assembly is housed in the tank. There is an access panel on top of the tank to allow service of the fuel pump/filter, which is what they are covering with that piece. They could have mounted all that stuff on the bottom of the tank I suppose, ala the RSD Gas It kit, but it's a whole lot easier just to cover the top of the tank I guess.
No more difficult for HD than designing that bra. So I doubt difficulty was a factor, nor overall production costs. Well maybe costs, they'd have to actually design and stamp out a new tank.

that rsd kit came out after i painted my tank, if it wouldve came out bit sooner i woudlnt be worry bout this. i dont wanna cut/weld/repaint on top of buying the darn thing but it might come down to it. the reason for the trouble is i hate the dash speedo sticking up, i like the looks of a clean tank it would be cool if someone would make a resessed insert that holds the speedo to put in there and a trim piece to smooth it all over, but may not be able too, i forgot exactly what is right under that panel
