Nice xbones
hey, how do you like the led head light? I have an 09 bonez and was cautious on how it would look on such an old stylee looking bike. After seeing it on yours i like it! But...heres the question. In your opinion is it worth the $$$ ? Or would you have rather gotten something else?
I wasn't sure how the "modern" light would look on the vintage Bones, but after seeing it on, the black LED looks awesome and actually looks better on the bike than the original chrome background halogen. Yeah, $400 is pretty steep, but I finally convinced myself from a safety standpoint since it only has the one headlight. Also, getting the extra safety factor along with a kick a## looking light finally made me do it. It runs a lot cooler and pulls less power, too.
The pics are working! Great looking Bones! I really like the gas caps you have. Where did they come from?
RIP,
They're the HD black flush mounted cap and gauge. The gauge wiring was a bit tricky, but after putting them on I think they REALLY make the tank with the bike's color scheme.
I think I'd rather change the seat than change the fender. I want to keep as much of the original look as I can. The seat is really comfortable to me and fits me well since I'm 6'4" and it keeps me sitting high. Any seat suggestions that you think would go better with the rear fender?
Agreed. Don't take my taste for gospel. If you like the oem one, that great and all that matters.
Say if I had an Xbones and wanted to keep a solo, I would either go with a Lepera Bare Bones, or the HD Brawler. With the bobtail fender, a seat that hugs it to me looks better where it is a long looking fender from the side view. Where you are 6'4", these seats might not be as comfortable for you, cause if your lower, your legs will be more cramped.
I might get the HD Brawler seat and see how it fits and feels. It'd be nice to have a seat change option for a different look once in a while. I might be one of the few guys that likes the bobtail fender on the X-Bones. It's not a true vintage look, but the short fenders aren't really "1940s" either. I do like the looks of the short fenders, though. It's a personal thing and probably whatever style HD chose, some customers would not be happy with it. I'll post more pics this weekend when I get my Motherwell Solo Rack installed..............THEN I'll be done (haha).
