I picked up a set of 80 Spoke HD Wheels. I'm going to have the Front Tire installed on the wheel tomorrow. Do I need to have the Rotor on the wheel when they balance it?
Anyone else have these wheels on a Softail? The instructions say to mount the wheel on the bike with the Valve stem on the left side which is the Rotor side. The stock wheel has the valve on the right side. Why the difference?
Hey Mike, you may wanna try some Dyna Beads as a balancer. If I ran a 80 spoke, I wouldnt want those ugly weights on there. You can get them anywhere. I bought mine from Rocky Mountain ATV. $20 bucks for the whole kit, Front and back, and you can reuse them. Dont know about the rotors, dont think they would balance them with them on it. JMHO
If your wheel is already at the tire place, just have them balance with the wieghts (no rotor). 1st reason, they probably aren't going to have them. 2nd reason, you can ride while you are waiting on them after you order them (dyna beads).
When they arrive, pop off the wieghts and then insert dyna beads through the valve stem. Air it up to the right psi and your off.

Dropped the wheel off earlier this morning and the first thing the guy says is "where's the rotor?" He said they need it on when they balance the wheel. Should be ready by noon..
