Default Really dumb plug wire question

I have some red SE plug wires coming tomorrow. Do I need some dielectrode grease or anything when I put these on? I have worked on a slew of cars, but not so much on bikes. I use the grease on the plugs on my Lightning, which is why I ask....

There was no dielectric grease on my plugs/wires last time I checked ... And dealer here smothers everything in the stuff.

The dielectric grease is to keep the connections waterproof and to keep the boots from being stuck on.

That was why I was asking if they use it on the bike. I will probably throw a little on there just for piece of mind, mostly for the waterproofing...

My SE wires I just put on a couple of weeks ago already had a small dab of grease applied to them.

The Spark Plug Boot is made of a high Silicone Plastic. The Spark Plug Ceramic is Glass or Silica. Because the Spark Plug Ceramic and the Spark Plug Boot are actually very similar materials; when placed in close contact, and in the presence of high temperatures, there will be a transfer of material between the two over time. A light film (less is more here) of High Temperature Dielectric (insulating) grease keeps the two separated by a very thin layer and prevents this transfer. This is why, after they have been installed for awhile, it is easy to remove and replace plug boots that have been coated like this. Look real close (a magnifying glass helps) at a spark plug that didn't have this done and you can actually see the embedded spark plug boot material in the ceramic.

My orange S E wires came with a small line of grease in the boot. On my 96'' has two retaining zip ties at the top center. I used several methods to fit right to no good. Got the replacement pair for the perfect look and all is well.
