Default throttle cables?

sometimes when riding my 98 fatboy- i give the throttle some juice and it makes a kinda pop or spit sound right near the throttle itself; and causes the throttle lose total power for like a second or two.

as a laymen I'm guessing adjustment of the two cables but I'm lost after that.

help?

I have never heard of them popping or spitting . when it happened could you feel it like a snap? If one of the cables was to be a little loose it might be out of track and snap back in. ( if that makes any sense) adjusting the cables is a simple thing. if you need help doing that we will explain.

Sounds like a carb fart to me. It might be clogged or need to be rejetted. I find that my sporty farts on occasion too.
