What do you guys do to fight rust.. My rocker is showing some surface rust on some hard to reach places, how do I go about getting rid of it.. and preventing it?
I have found (from reading posts on this forum) that for heavy rust, some SOS pads soaked in soda works really good (just don't rub hard!) For the surface stuff, a little Never Dull does good. Once you have taken the rust off, or at least what you can see, then smear some wax on and polish.
Rust is pain I found surface rust here and there on my scoot to in hard to reach areas. S100 makes a rust inhibitor that works well and also cleans the chrome. Ive been using this with good success. Also I like to use eagle one nano metal polish helps to remove the rust well to. Hope this helps!
Thats just what I was looking for... Iv heard GREAT things about the S100... just didnt see the need to buy it.. Ill go source what I can. thanks a lot! Ill report back with my findings.
I use Flitz and like it a lot. Depending on the extent of the rust, plain 'ol polishing compound or rubbing compound could also be used with some caution. Even naval jelly for serious rust!
As for prevention, I use one of these Cycle Dry gizmos (basically a hair dryer) for drying hard to reach places after washing:
I found a product through J@P call "Strong Arm" Works better than anything I've seen before. Spray it on the rust, let it soak for a couple minutes, then use a tooth brush, scotch pad or even your fingernail and the rust comes right off. Here's a link with videos. http://strongarmsprays.com/
Iv been looking for a drier that's isn't $$$. Guess Iv gotta bite the bullet. And Iv herd of that strong arm spray before, just never used it. I'll see what they can do. I guess it's all trial and error right? Thanks a lot guys!
I'm starting to get a little rust inside the black torx screws that hold my hand controls on. How about getting that rust out without ring that black finish and then touching it up?
