Default New Pipes. Now problems. Help!!!!

Ok I put on some new Rush Crossover pipes with the 1.75 baffles today. Checked for leaks on the exhaust ports using flame and smoke. No exhaust leaks to be found or herd. While riding I am getting a lot of Decel popping and some hesitation and sputtering during light acceleration and some times at steady speed. I have the stock A/C still on. I pulled my plugs to check them and found them to be white (lean condition) Could it be that much leaner from just a pipe change? Do I now need a tuner? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Default Lean

Yes...Your bike is going to continue to run lean and hot unless you add a fuel controller or have the bike remapped. If thats the case you might as well add an AC upgrade and be done...Good luck

From every thing I have read a remap or fuel manager was not necessary for just the addition of pipes. I guess that is wrong. Like I mentioned the baffles are the 1.75 and it might be to much flow for the ECM. BTW the weather was really cold when I took it out for a ride 32 deg. I don't know if that would add to the problem.. Don't really have the cash for a Power commander right now, would the dealer flash be enough?

Should I have reset the ECM after the exhaust change?

check out nightrider.com and get the XiED's they are an inexpensive fuel enrichment device. I ran the stock A/C and 1.75 cycle shacks and they worked great. I now run the FUELPAK with the upgraded intake and the bike runs really well.

For your bike here are two choices from them standard or adjustable.

With any full exhaust system upgrades we recommend using a properly tuned fuel management system. If cost is a concern, many people have had success with pre-programmed systems that are easily installed. I believe you can get one for under $300. It will get the A/F ratio back and provide a nice power increase.

Our slip-on mufflers generally can be installed on a stock bike with no tuning. However, once you change the headpipes tuning is almost always required.

If you had pulled the plugs before you changed the pipe they would have looked the same, as far as decell popping that has to be fixed with a controller, or just ride it and see if it learns it way out of it

How can it run leaner if you have the same amount of air going in?
