2007 Softail Custom tach?
Anybody have a part number for the new tach mount used on the 07 Screaming Eagle Springer...the one that clamps onto the handlebar between the risers? I've been looking for info, but can't find any.

did they say why it won't work?
the reason I ask is because, the flush mount chrome LED fuel gauge says "except FXSTD" on it, the only reason that it says that is because the trim ring for the fuel filler isn't curved enough to fit the Deuce tank. a few minutes with a heat gun solved that. but I never would have known that if I didn't read it on a forum like this. HD never said why.
them telling me it won't work isn't good enough, I'm interested in the reason WHY.
I'd like to put one on my Deuce, I like the changing colors and the clock.
they did tell me and it was enough of a problem to stay away. the 07 has a setup to handle an extra wire or plug something like that i did get a good answer but its been awhile and i have moved on

I ask because I found the PN for a clamp on mount for 2-5/8" gauge's 67218-04 at $103.95.
According to the 07 accessories catalog it fits 00-later FXSTD and 88-later Softail Springer models, but will not fit Springers with detachable windshields.
You'll still need to get the housing ($19.95 for tapered housing or $49.95 for cylindrical housing) and the tach itself ($121.95 for black face).
UnoDuce,
If i'm reading the catalog right the reason you can't use the newer "colored" speedo/tach is because the wiring is different between 06 and 07. I know that the computer changed, but I'm not sure exacty what they changed or how they did it. I'm sure it will fit physically, but for the actual wiring your on your own. You would need the pin outs for the 06 (yours) and the new 07's to figure out what they changed. Even that may not help if the wires are the same it may be the trigger signals that are different, and if they changed that your sunk. Only upgrading your bike to the newer 07 ECM will fix it. That's probably more work and expence than its worth.
Why don't you call or e-mail HD and ask them if and when they plan on either making a pin conversion cable to allow it to fit, if its just a pin out problem. Or make one to fit older style bike? In any event it wouldn't hurt to ask.
H-D said the reason the 2 5/8" mini-tach description says it won't fit the 2007 Softail Custom is that they don't have a specific mount for it yet. They are working on something but it could be awhile. In the meantime I have run across this mount http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup...A-6C303155A018
What do you guys think?

That looks like it should work, but its a little too bulky for my taste. Even if Harley doesn't have a mount yet. I like the way what they do have fits in with the overall look of the bike. If its a choice between that one and waiting, I'll wait.
Kuryakyn also makes a speedo/tach combo...it has the following features:
• Speedometer
• Tach – numeric LCD readout plus L.E.D. string for quick reference.
• Gear Indicator
• Digital Clock
• Odometer/Trip Meter
• Ambient temperature
• Volt Meter
• All stock warning lights are maintained (i.e. check engine, security, etc.)
Currently says its for 04 - 06 softails and roadkings but I'm betting they come out with one for the 07's pretty quick. Retail price is $399 but you should be able to take $40 - $50 off from a reseller.

The only "problem" I have with the Kuryakyn is that you really need to use thir gas cap and gauge for the complete "look", and I'm not quite up to jumping that far into it.
On the other hand I e-mailed Dakota digital about their unit and was "told" that their HLY-2004 model is a direct plug in for all bikes 04 and up including the 07's. The only thing I think its missing is the clock function, that's coming next I think.

If your into the black no display when its off look its not bad. But it is a bit pricey at $465.00.

See what you think of it.
