What options do I have for installing a round handlebar type tach? My dealer called H-D and they said they don't have a bracket yet for the 2 5/8" tach for the Custom. Anybody have any ideas?
you can do a search on the net check arlen ness i like his products he makes a nice oil pressure gauge and lots of other stuff. i thought harley mad a setup that mounted where the handelbar bolts go.
Harley does make a mounting for the tach. however when I tried to check it out I found that its not supposed to fit the 07's. Not sure why, no one can tell me. I was "told" that the mount won't fit properly but that didn't make any sense to me. The Custom does have a short, very shrot, set of risers. But the bolt spacing for them is still the same as other bikes with Wideglide atyle trees.
The part numbers that I figured out that might "fit" are;
Tach 2-5/8" Black Face 68953-04 $64.95
Tach Housing Cylindrical 67523-04 $49.95
Gauge Bracket 67676-04 $81.95
Billet Gauge Mount 67161-04 $50.95 or 67138-04 $88.95
The gauge mount is the part that has me confused. There is NO listing that I can find that specifically says its for an 07 FXSTC. The two listed above are for 96-later FXSTS, FLSTS, and FLSTSC (67161-04) and 00-later FXSTD, and FLSTN (67138-04).
They are both made to replace the two top handle bar clamps with a single one. They have the same symetrical (even) bolt pattern that the Customs have, but I haven't the slightest clue what the bolt spacing may be for the bracket.
Anyone have one of those bikes that we can measure it on?
In any event if you manage to figure something out please let me know as I have been unable to get any farther than I have. At least so far, but I haven't given up trying.
