You have to use the hooks of the spanner wrench to turn it. So you turn the flat cap with the holes in it, not the nut.

Default 422 preload adj help

Let me clarify, I am using the spanner wrench, when i turn the wrench the the threaded stock also turns, which in turn is turning thru the height adjusting nuts, so this does not seem normal to me.

Road Dog,

I have 422's on both my rides. Took me a lot of experimenting to find the sweet spots.

There is a "Fixed" nut on the threaded shaft. Use a wrench on this nut to hold the shaft while turning the adjuster plate with your spanner.

Note: The adjuster plate is held onto the shock body with a locking ring. Sometimes the adjuster plate will spin within the shock body when making adjustments. This is not a problem as long as you can measure the amount of adjustment made.

Put some sort of mark on the Shock Body, Adjuster Plate and the Fixed Nut prior to making adjustments. Adjust spring preload equally on both shocks then re-check and make corrections if necessary, to the height adjustment after preload has been set.
