Default Help checking ECM Stock or tuner

I pulled the seat on my 04 Heritage and took out the four hex bolts to pull the cover. I cannot seem to get the square out of the cover to see the front.

I am not mechanically inclined so did not want to force anything, so just put it all back together...I would like to know if there is a trick to getting the ecm out of the louvered look cover.

The louvered covered module is the ECM. They aren't designed to open. If you have an aftermarket ECM, it will be attached in series with the stock ECM cable and usually mounted on top of the stock unit or behind the rear splash guard.

it's probably a good think that you didn't get it all the way out.

So I assume there is no way to check if I have at least a download then for the stage I. Darn. Well, I suppose a PCIII is in my future then.

you would have to take it to a dealer to see if you have a D/L, if you do, I believe you are going to want it flashed back to stock before you add any kind of tuner.

Yes, you need to find out from the dealer if it has been flashed. No, you do not need to put it back to stock if it has been. If you buy a PC from Fuelmoto just tell them if it has a flash and they will load an appropriate map. Dynojet also has maps for flashed ecm's.
