Default zero oil pressure

finished rebuilding my engine. Over the last two weekends - put 100 miles of easy riding - changed oil - put 300 miles of highway riding - just finished the 300 mile ride - stopped to stretch the legs. When I started the bike back up - NO oil pressure. Idio light was on and pressure gauge as zero. Checked oil tank - tank full. Any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem.

thanks - going to bet it is the pump. A new Fueling pump. Because the sending unit is in parallel with a mechanical pressure guage. And the idiot light and gauge both read zero.. DAMN... (sorry for the french)

Been thinking ( I know - bad for my health) How does a oil pump go bad? The thing consists of a rotor in a housing that takes oil from the tank and pumps it through the engine and a rotor in a housing (the two are sandwiched together) that take oil from the bottom of the engine and pumps it to the tank. The oil pump is physically connect to the crank shaft (it doesn't even have a key to lock it to the crank) The whole thing consists of housing, rotors, and O rings. What can fail????

The only thing I can think of that would cause a fail that quick would be introduction of a foreign agent to the pump. (Crap in the crankcase got picked up and sheered the impeller)

If you start the bike with the cap off of the oil tank is there any movement of the oil? That would tell you if the pump is working.

Plus one ... I've heard of cams falling apart and splitting oil pump impeller ... and ... anything that rotates can break ...

Good idea to look into the tank ... and see if it is actually moving ... also ... very easy to hook up mechanical guage and see if there is pressure .. keep in mind .. as you know ... every time you fire that thing up without oil pressure you are risking it ..

Did you install new case-to-oil pump o-rings? How did you align the new oil pump with the crank?

Yes install all new o-rings. Used two alignment tools screws and followed HD manual instructions.
