There is a small vacuum cap on the throttle body. My 03 would whistle depending on engine speed, and I always thought it was my intake/filter.
The vacuum cap was deteriorated and had broken off, leaving only a ring, and no cap.
It's worth a check. Replacing the cap will resolve the sound.
