I have a 2007 white deuce that I am attempting to sell. I am having a hard time getting the price I want, so I was thinking about selling the bike as stock and sell the accessories separately in an attempt to recoup my money.
Right now, the bike has rush slip on pipes, a high flow HD air filter and a stage two screaming eagle chip, as well as other accessories like a windshield, bags and sissy bar.
Can I take take the rush slip ons and the high flow HD filter and put the stock mufflers and stock air filter on and still run the bike with the stage two chip?
Please advise.
I'm assuming you had cams replaced since you said stage 2. I think the bike will run ok with stock pipes and a/b...a little rich maybe. But.. to your basic premise...good luck making any decent money off used bike take off parts.
And there is no such thing as a Stage II chip. The ECU was flashed with the Stage II fuel/ignition profile. That can be flashed back to stock if needed.
Most likely not. The stock flash is very lean the stage 1 and stage 2 and generally richer but the bike will run alright with little or no chance of damage. You should inform the new owner of the ECU status so they have a leg up on future mods.
The bike will run fine. Not perform fine, as in, it won't ride like it does now.
The flash just adds fuel to all riding profiles to fatten it up a bit from epa/factory standards.
I would do it. Just let the buyers know that this flash is already there and they can add pipes/AC without additional work.
I don't think that anyone who is buying a harley that knows what they are doing would consider the changes you are going to make a deal maker nor would they consider the bike as it is a deal breaker. I think you will find that the right buyer may bring some of this up as a negotiation point but right now people are looking for steals in the market. Plus, everyone knows that someone who owns a harley has an inflated opinion of what it is worth.
My recommendation is to leave the bike as is because what you are going to do will make the bike seem only partially correct and possibly a problem bike.
id leave it as is and keep trying to sell it. used slip ons and a high flow A/C wont bring much $ anyway and I think it will be a better sell to the right buyer as is.
The economy is in the dumps and bike sales are at a big low, its a buyers market
Thanks for you opinion. Btw, what is a good asking price? I am thinking about a reserve auction on ebay with a buy it now option, as i can not sell it locally
