Sorry for this rant, but I just had to voice my astonishment at the prices the Harley dealers are charging. I have an 07 Softail Custom, took it to the dealer [ yeah I know a stupid thing to do ] for a price on an oil change and two tires. Total out the door $800.15!!!!!!!!!!! I told them I there for TIRES for my bike NOT a down payment on another one! Well, I feel better now.

Dude I hope you didn't pay that, I just purchased two whitewall tires for 370.00 with new tubes, mounted, balanced and installed, plus I do my own oil changes (cheaper). Way better than going to a stealer!!!

Yep , I bought a lift, manual and oils and did the 10,000 service for less than what they wanted to charge me, I also replaced the rear tire cheaper by doing it my self Worht the money invested in tools.

No, I just walked out disillusioned. I have decided to take the advice here and invest in the proper tools and do my own servicing.

Man, do I hear you brother. I found an indy guy that charges about a third of what the harley rip-offs charge and he'll talk to you all day long about what you want! There's plenty of guys like that and they make a good living dealing with people disgusted with harley dealers.

I've done my own, but the dealer here charges $10 more than what the oil & filter cost. So I usually have them do it when they inspect my bike. From there, I do it myself when needed.

Too bad man, those prices are criminal.

OMG is right, there is way over 200.00 in extra markup in the 800.00

They might have had you as a customer at five of six hundred, but EIGHT HUNDRED?

Glad to hear you walked.

WTF! I've had it with stealers, I vowed the day I walked out the dealers door with my bike I would never give them another cent!

I just changed all 3 fluids for the first time. I didn't use any kind of lift or jack, and it was a piece of cake.
