Hi guys..at the moment i have a 1200c sportster 2006.....
My problem is i do not know harleys well..i would like to trade up and get may be a dyna or a softail...whats more reliable..i am not really into touring..also carb or fuel inject....i would be looking at a 2006 or 2007 round there any way...
Appreciate any advice....brummie
EFI has been an option from like 01. 07 it became standard equipment. My 06 is EFI. I would think dynas and softails are equally reliable. They have same engine, tranny, etc. Dynas don't have counter balancers so you get the vibration at idle. What style do you like better?

Yep, Warg is correct!
My 01 touring bike is EFI. Your not gonna get many dyna votes in the softail section. I think you will feel like you busted a move getting a softail, whereas a dyna you might feel as though it wasen't enough. But is it ever enough? haha
Having owned both Dyna and Softails I'd say they both are great bikes, you just need to take a test ride and see what you like better. Personally I prefer the shake of the Dyna with the rubber mounted engine more than my tame Softail but I'm in the minority on that one. Looks wise I prefer my Softail though.
Traded it in for my 09 Heritage and have a much bigger smile on my face. When I was shopping I looked at the Dyna's but, in all honesty, found them to be simply Sportsters on steroids... bigger frame, bigger motor, but similar in a number of ways to the Sportster.
