Go over to page 1770 of the Night Train picture thread and look at jreichart's bike. He has a fat wheel up front. I think it's from a Fatboy one but I bet he could give you some info.

I'm running a 16x3 stock rear train wheel on the front. It required some machining to fit, had to mill about 1/8" off the hub on the brake side to get everything to line up, and there were some issues with hardware size etc, but it all went pretty smooth and I am running the stock spacers.

I'm not real familiar with spokes, but you might be able to use your existing front hub and have your local indy lace a 3" wide ring onto it? If that's possible, you'd save yourself some headaches with spacing and brake alignment.

heres one of my first renditions of my train in 07, pm twisters 18x5.5 and 18x3.5, 200 and 140 metz. Just used stock spacers and the correct 25mm bearings installed. absolutely no problems with this and it actually handled corners alot better than the 21

That's about the easiest, quickest, and maybe cheapest way to get a wider wheel to fit without a problem.
If you want to keep your own wheel, I'm sure you can get a take off 21" wheel off evil-bay fairly cheap to have re-laced with a wider rim.
