i have the rush slips and my girls boot melted & messed up the powder coat.. has anyone wrapped the stock pipes and since the diameter of the muffler is larger then the header is that gonna make it impossible to wrap?
Wrap the pipes with Summit Lava Titanium 2"x 50ft. and repaint the shields with High heat wrinkle paint from Pep Boys. Drill and pry out the Cats on the stock mufflers. Check out my photo albums for Pics.

Usually when this happens it can not be fixed. I've seen some minor boot melts that came off relatively easily. I quick buff with some rubbing compound will clean it up but will also dull the finish. It looks better than melted rubber but the dull spot will really stand out. I've never seen a wrapped slip-on before but it's a great idea. You could always get the muffler re-coated as well.
Here is an option to consider, black slip on muffler shield. HS14RB - Black 3" Muffler Body/14,16,22,25,26,27,28 Series Mufflers / MSRP - $149.95
Only have a pic in chrome but the black finish will match the slip-on.

I went to the dealership recently looking to do the same thing. I have chrome slip ons so I wanted to wrap in black up to the slip ons. All the techs avoided it like the plague and told me it could take up to 8 hours to do...haha!!!! Bottom line I didn't do it however I have seen it done and it looked good. Find an Indy shop who will do it at a good price, or DIY.

8 HOURS to wrap pipes!!!!!!! . Including taking the pipes off and getting them back on it should not take more than an hour and a half at the most. Maybe a little extra since you are dealing with take the slip ons off. Man these people at the dealers are getting more and more clueless by the minute.

Totally agree! Maybe 2hrs tops, if you've never done it before?
