Default Switch control alignment?

I had the dealer put on risers today. They felt ok in the orientation the dealer put them in but of course I wanted to see if I could improve it. When I was done (not really changing it much) I went to look up the torque values in the service manual and noticed a warning to keep the controls lined up with the alignment marks on the bottom of the handlebar or damage to wires will occur. I looked on the bottom of my bars and they were probably about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch out of spec. Is this really a problem? I tried the bars with them lined up to spec and it was awkward and uncomfortable.

I take it they are internally wired. If so then it could cut the wires. But i doubt that it would happen.

They are internally wired. I guess I'll call the dealer on Monday and ask them about it. I might just try turning the bar itself enough to allow me to get them back into spec and be comfortable. I would hope it would be Ok since the dealer did the work but of course that's not always the case.

I honestly dont see an issue as everyone has to move them to make it fit for them. Just look for cutting into the wire sleeve when you wash the bike. Probably written for liability reasons.CYA crap.

Take out your torx loosen them up and look and see if the wires are tight against the hole. There is plenty of room under there for some rotation of the controls for personal comfort.

You'll be fine, just make sure where the wires penetrate the hole in the bars that they are protected by a loom or some other means to prevent chaffing.
Cheers!
