Default Lowering a softail

How much can i lower the rear of my nightrain without making look stupid???

If your swingarm doesn't touch the bump stops, then your bike isn't lowered.

I wouldn't go more than 1". That will look great,won't change the ride or handling, and you won't hafta change out the kickstand. Any more & you're gonna bang,especially with a passenger.

I usually go between and inch and an inch and a half.
Weighing 300 lbs, I still want to be able to ride them.

Mine is somewhere between 1 and 1.5". There's some travel left but not much.

Let's put it this way- I avoid potholes at all costs.

2inches,ride 2 up.no problems......low as you can go!!!

My Heritage is lowered 2", and no problems even with a passenger. It will make your pipes look like they are angled down a bit though. IMO it will never look stupid though!! You will have to watch how hard you come through a dip, like drive ways or parking lots if your pipes are of any length like mine, because they will scrape a bit if your not careful.

Get a Shotgun Shock and you'll have the best of both worlds. Drop it to the bump stops when bar hopping or parked then raise it for comfort or two up riding.
