I have a new 07 night train and it ran good for 1800 miles. It developed a small vibration throughout the bike. While I was trying to figure out the problem I noticed the battery voltage was 17.4 volts not running,19.2 running and 20 volts with throttle. Is this too much voltage? Is this a rugulator problem. If so how do i test it? Can this much voltage cause a vbration problem? Thanks for any info. Ed C
First go check your meter on your car battery to confirm it is reading correct voltage. 17 volts on a bike that is not running is very strange........Make sure your meter is not reading to high

I have to agree it sounds like there is something not quite right with your meter.
Saying 17VDC on a lead acid battery is very strange, is a bit of an understatement.
It should read around 13.2VDC with the engine off.
