Batwing is Ur call, seen some on Heritage's and Lux's, aint bad.
When I first bought the bike I did the usual stg1.
The 2nd round of mods I made was to the back seating area. Pillion HD Touring seat, detach sissy bar with HD Touring Backrest and Floorboards for the wife.
Total major difference in comfort for her. That was $$$$ well spent.
I don't even lean back on her so we don't have the problem of smashing her.
Maybe U could move Ur bars forward a little and still be comfortable and give her some room.
My issue is with my bad back I have to sit more upright than most. Can't hunch over very much on rides without pain.
As far as a touring box, U talking bout the Heritage leather one or one off the touring bikes.?
Have U seen these armrest for the Heritage?.

Also it looks or seems like the detachable sissy bar on ours is taller than what U have.

Memphis Shade Batwing on 2012 Heritage
Install was easy, except for the tri-pouch. The 2 at each end are kind of tight to the handle bar. Cant wait to take the bike out check for buffeting.( when it's warmer out)
