Ok if I dont go with a trunk and wrap around back rest, what is a bigger taller rest for her. She says when we ride and I dont use my rest I lean back on her and makes her bend over the top of her rest. Her's hits her in the lower back.

I swapped the stock back rest pad for the bigger after market one HD offers, it's signifigantly bigger than the stock one IMO. Smooth part # 51132-98 and with matching heritage studs 52348-97. If your wife is really tall and it is still hitting her too low you may have to get a little higher sissy bar as well.

As for the batwing, I say do it. I may go to a batwing on my '08 Heritage some day. Would probably even do the bagger tail to put hard bags on. I had a memphis one on my dyna and liked it. When I traded up I went for the feel and ride of the Heritage over the Street Glide. The Heritage just fits me better than the SG or the RK did.

Another option. I bought an early FL batwing. A company in Canada called RNR Custom Cycles makes brackets to mount this directly to the Softail FL.
They also make brackets to mount hard bags.
But what I like is how the fairing "fits". It doesn't stick straight up like some of the aftermarket ones (which I'm sure can be mounted correctly)
I had posted this on the touring side, because they offer this kit for RoadKings too.
Anyhow, this is the routE I'll prbl go. It's over 3 bills though, but it does incl the windscreen.

But at least look at their pics in their product section.
Those BW's look COOL on those bikes (hard bags too)

I am in the middle of a fairing install right now . I ve got everything together and wired up . The stereo absolutely kicks *** , I also added a tachometer right next to the stereo. There was room. I took it out for a ride aver the weekend and I am very happy with my choice. My bike feels more stable flying down the road. I just took it apart about half hour ago to bring the inner to my paint guy tmrw. He matched the paint for me. I picked up a sample earlier today to bring home and compare. Its a spot on match so its a go. I went with a Woodys audio fairing. I cannot say enough about the quality of the fairing and the whole experience with Glenn. Man he gets right back to you about the littlest question you might have . After I get the outer back from the painter i will post pics. All you guys considering a fairing for your Heritage DO IT and do yourself a favor and go with a Woodys you wont be disappointed. Charlie

I have after market hard bags on mine and thinking about the hd tour pack, not the leather covered one but abs. I ride solo so am looking at the quick disconnect rack. You may want to look at that. As for the batwing fairing...it is just plain ugly, no offense to anyone that has one, just personal preference that's all. Definitely need to think about the comfort of your passenger, especially for the long trips.
Here's the link for the hard bags, they have fairings too:

Oh, when visiting the website and looking at the heritage bags, the bike with the rider standing beside the bike is me and my ride

I say go for it. I'm planning on turning my Heritage into a Softail bagger in (I hope) the not too distant future. I'm looking at the Hoppe Quadzilla fairing and really like it.
