Front end help
Looking for help!
I have installed an accutronix tripple tree and custom made fork boots - problem is the combination of the two is not leaving enough room for the full travel on the front suspension.
The top and bottom trees are further apart than the stock trees losing me at least 1 1/2 inches of space from the bottom tree to the slider. The boots that I have had made then cut the travel down to just 2 1/2 inches. This is clearly not enough travel under anything more than moderate braking.
As I see it the only options are to go with standard fork boots without the spikes which would be disappointing but safe, or to reduce the suspension travel by putting spacers in the tubes to compress the springs. I don't know how safe this would be altough presumably the fork lowering kits work on this principle of reducing the suspension travel?
Can anyoune see any other options?

You dont have spikes coming down from the lower tree. Seems like the ones coming up from the slider are over doing it anyway. Id just go to a standard chrome ring down there and you should be all set.

I had the tubes DLC coated - took me ages asking and researching to find out what the process was and someone to do it. DLC stands for Diamond Like Coating. It is used for the tubes on some top end sports bikes and BMW KTM's - It has a lower friction co-efficient which is why it is used in these bikes - I used it because it is black!
I had to get a set of tubes coated - the place that I found to get it done was here in the UK but they send it out to Belgium. I am sure there must be other places that do it though.
And no it wasn't cheap.
Looks like I will go with the standard non spikey fork boots, but compromise never sits well with me, so I just thought I would throw it out there to see if there were any other ideas that I was overlooking.
Impatience is the real reason - It took the guy 2 months to make them then another month for chroming - I will probably consider sending them off to be done, but I just want a quick fix so I can get riding again.
