I have a Throttle Mate which is similar to the Cruise Mate only cheaper and easier to install. The Cruise Mate is about $50 (last time I looked) and you had to do some drilling I think. The Throttle Mate goes on over the star **** (OEM) part and stays on with a set screw. Takes two minutes. Had mine about two years.........love it. Costs about $16.00 on eBay.

That thing really works?

Lots of questions for you:

1. Is it easy to engage and disengage?
2. How hard is it, when engaged, to override with a throttle twist?
3. Does it cause any damage/unnatural wear on the internals of the throttle grip?

I really value your experiences with this. If you have any tips to share, that would be appreciated too.

Thanks!!

Didn't work for me. Too loose one way-two tight the other. Probably just my bike so it's in the tool box junk drawer. Got the cruize mate now but am working up the courage to drill out the hole where the star tensioner was. Drilling is kind of a permanent thing so no return to stock.

I got the barefoot ******* one off ebay.
For the price and simplicity, I think it works great!

SprungDave,

1. Is it easy to engage and disengage?
Yes, it's just a flick of the thumb.
2. How hard is it, when engaged, to override with a throttle twist?
When you are first adjusting it . It should be easily overidden with your wrist but it won't losen up when you don't have any pressure on it.
3. Does it cause any damage/unnatural wear on the internals of the throttle grip?
Not that I know of. It is only engaged and locked when you choose to.
I have had mine on the bike for 3yrs. with no problems.

I just put the cruise mate on my dyna last night, you need to drill out the hole then tap it. It comes with a jig, its not that bad, 1/2 job or one beer..
