Default engine breaking

Ok guy, here's the question, and it just kinda came to me after reading something in an exhaust thread. My bike really doesn't seem to slow down when I let off the throttle. Would this be caused by the tuning, my long pipes, my cam...? It's been making it harder to ride around corners without hitting the breaks.

Is your throttle sticking at all? Your bike like anything should slow down when leaving off the gas.

No, not a throttle issue, it just seems to coast a lot more then it should. Any other bike I ride seems to have a lot more back pressure slowing it down...

Your not pulling the clutch in while doing this right?

Perhaps you're in too high of a gear. Try down shifting prior to entering the turn.

What RPM is your idle set at? If it's idling too high it would have that effect as well.

Sounds like high idle.

lmao, no, I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. It likely has more to do with what gear I'm in. I guess after putting the 255 cam in, I'm running at lower rpms then I used to. Could also be high idle, never thought of checking that. I'll mess around with it a little and see if I can get some better results. What should a normal idle be?

I believe Harley advises the idle of the twin cam rpm to be 950 to 1050, but hopefully others can confirm this.
