Default bright headlamp??

Was wondering what people on the forum are using for bright headlight an there softails , not happy with the light mine throws out ?
I bought a aftermarket stretched jobby and being a 99 softail standard, ridged mount motor thought that might be an issue as well with the vibration the bulb and longevity?
Anybody have some ideas of what has worked for them or there buds would help ?
Cheers ,Joe

Replaced the stock 9003 with one of the super bright replacement bulbs from the local automotive shop.

You have two options. HD and kuryakyn both make a good LED head light. A Side by Side comparison shows the HD light is brighter, both the low and high beams. However it will also cost somewhat more. Both are much better then the stock light. It's up to you if the extra brightness of the HD is worth the extra $$.

The first and easiest thing to do is to pull the diffuser out of the headlight. The diffuser is the piece that covers the end of the bulb. 55W bulbs are what we usually run in our older bikes. It is held on with a screw and can be either removed completely or you can twist and break it off.

I went with the LED lights from Harley and all I can say is wow. They are incredible. If you search youtube you will see videos of the comparison. After watching those and reading all sorts of reviews i decided they were the way to go and so far i have no regret.

LED lights are bright, but very expensive. I would consider a brighter replacement bulb and wait for a year or so. the LED's will be cheap by then. $800 may seem reasonable to some - and you can't put a price on safety - but folks who buy the LED now are the "early adopters" and will be paying a premium for the bulbs at this stage in the game. Perhaps consider a HID kit. Those are now $40. They used to be $500 too just a couple of years ago.

The 7" led is I belive $495 and the 5" $395 not $800. If you go to the right places you can get those for 15-20% off. Thats still not cheap but considering the safety factor of being able to see I feel its worth it. You are right they may be cheaper a year or two from now just like everything else its a matter of what is it worth to you. There are pros and cons to any option you choose.

I did the sealed beam swap on my ride long ago as well. I think 03 and up use standard bulbs but can't remember.
