Default Horn

Was riding yesterday, some jerk pulled out in front of me and I laid on the horn as I locked it up and took evasive actions. The problem was my horn sounded like it was half dead! I am sure they heard me before they heard my horn!! It made a noise is about all I can say about it! What could possibly be wrong with a horn, they either work or don't work, right? The bike is an 06 but only has 4800 miles on it, I probably have only used the horn 2 or 3 times!! Could it be from lack of use? Dirt up in it somehow? Wires are tight !!

I might as well not even have a horn on mine, it's so quiet. Consider getting a mini-beast...

I have an air horn on my bike. The couple times someone started coming into my lane, I hit that horn, and they swerved back into their own lane. Only about $45. I won't own a bike with out one.

Have you checked to see if there’s a dirt dobber nest in it? Being that you haven't used the horn that much it could have been built last year. They’re elusive little boogers and can get in anywhere!

When I put a new cover over the stock horn, it specifically stated not to over-tighten the horn to the cover as it could deaden or possibly damage the horn. You could remove the cover and make sure that screw isn't too tight.

I put and auto horn on mine modified it to fit inside my round cover. When I first did it i was trying to get away with not using that bracket with the rubber isolator. It sounded like a drunk frog. I now know that the horn cant be mounted to anything that is solid to the bike. It has to have the rubber isolator for it to work properly. MIne is loud as hell now.

Try installing one of these attached to your horn button!

I think the stock horn is only to wake up the biker.

I worked where we made horns.. U have to have at least dual horns to have a tone coming out of them that U can here.

OK,, now we'll add check Ur horn to the service check.

I'll still say DEFENSIVE ridding is the best way to avoid a collision. Speed and non attention is what cause some accidents.
