Default Windshield question

Will a 04 RK detatchable windshield fit an 07 Heritage? Theres one for sale a ride from here so I figured I'd ask before taking the drive and wasting diesel.

Thanks

I'd doubt it but the easiest way to find out is to check out shields in the P&A book or the accessories section at HD online. Find one for your Heritage and read the other bikes it will also fit.

Ive looked for 15 mins and I am not sure..

Why not just ride Ur bike there and try it on, instead of Using Diesel in Ur truck

or just call Ur dealer part dept and ask if the part No.'s are the same for both bikes.

No touring trees are wider, however if you get it cheep enough you may be able to make spacers to mount it. My buddy put a set of RK aux lights on his Heritage and simply added 3/8" spacers on each side.
Cheers!

Took me about 2 minutes to check every shield HD offers for the 07 Heritage - they fit many other softail models but that's it. Another minute and I checked all the 04 Road King shields - they only fit RKs. So no, it won't fit.

Now that isn't to say you can't modify something to make it work but I wouldn't want to consider that unless I had the actual shield and bike in the same place at the same time to compare and figure out what needs to be done.

Did you not read my post? The Touring trees are wider than the Softail, but the shield is the same except for the two vertical mounting brackets. They are slightly wider. If the shield is cheep enough you could modify it and make it fit.

By default it would not fit, unless it is real real cheap probably better off looking for the right one

If you're just needing the glass replaced check out this seller on ebay. I bought a 17" from him for my Heritage and it fit perfect.

Later I decided I wanted a taller windshield for cooler weather. I bought a beat up one on ebay for 50 bucks. The metal turned out to be perfect. Then I bought a new 21" glass from the above seller.

When you switch out the glass be careful not to bend the metal. Use a hair dryer to loosen the glue and take it apart slowly. Most of the glue will stick to the metal. On the bare spots put some black tape there before you install the glass.

It takes 2 hands to take it apart and 3 to put it back together.

I'm new to the windshield thing - Where do you measure from? The top of the headlight cutout to top rim?
Mine measures 20-1/2 Inches, Right in my line of sight
