Question Big Bore questions?

Hey forum, want to beef up my 06 Fatboy 88 motor. Was told all I could do was go to a 95. I also was told I could go higher. Was looking to get some feedback on this topic. If I do go bigger, do I also do the cam? Anything else do I have to do? Want to do this right the first time while it's all apart. All I have now is Vance and Hines exhaust, breather and PCIII. Thanks for any advice...

If you're gonna go big, go big! Several vendors that make 98" kits, S&S, Revtech, etc. I will be going with Hillside (who is a sponsor on here). I've talked with Scott there and they will custom build a kit for a VERY reasonable price. I already did the cams in anticipation of this. I'm sure they can fix you up with the cylinder/piston kit and cams as a complete system you would need. I couldn't do it all at once ($$$$), but Scott said they could make a kit to match the cams. Can't ask for more than that. Good luck!

Stock jugs can be bored out to 98...find a reputable shop with a machine shop and just have yours done.

You would be crazy not to swap the cam while you were at it. The stock cam is what really holds back the engine due to EPA requirements on the OEM.

You already have the PCIII so you just need another tune to download after your engine mods. A dyno tune would be better and should only cost a couple hundred if you can find a place.

A lot of choices and options. Take your time and research. Hang out in the engine forum, talk to some builders. If mechanically inclined and budget minded, this work can be done yourself also.

I would definitely do my heads while they are off. That is the best mod you can do for your bike. I know some may not agree but head work is the best mod anyone can do to thier bike. It's always there too for what ever you want to do in the future too. I think it would be crazy to have your heads off, going to put a big bore kit in it and not do your heads. If you do you will never regret doing it. If you don't, well, I think there will come a day you really wish you had especially since it was already down. I think those who really knows there stuff will tell you the same too. Its just a win win deal if you do your heads now, IMHO!!!
