hey all,
looking to change the hard seat on my FXSTI(2001) it's so hard!!! Any suggestions on which one to buy. I leaning toward a Mustang. Would appreciate any comments.
Thanks
Actually, I myself just purchased a Mustang solo seat with the adjustable/removable back rest for myself due to a back injury (3 herniated discs....OUCH) anyways I put it on and went out January 1st, I could not be any happier its softerand I hear they get better as they wear in. the noticable thing I like is the nose section of the seat is fitted narrower to the frame so your legs are not pushed out so far allowing you better foot placement on the ground.
I have sat on a Saddleman and a Corbin but could not tell you how the over ride is
You'll find a lot of mustang fans here. New wide vintage solo on mine now.. Love it, sofar. Check out my gallery for some pics. I will say if I had it to do again, I'd be leaning a bit more towards the regular width, but either works fine for me. On a standard, the wide version might be a little too wide as far as looks go.
Hey All,
sorry for just jumping in, but will a stock fatboy seat fit the trian. I know the seat has two additional screws on it, will this cause a factory. I too am looking for a more softer seat to include a wider passenger seat as well(wife complaining of the badlander).
I am looking to change my seat as well. I have a huge hd seat (two up) and I want to get a solo. I was looking at the Danny Grey seats. Anyone have anything to say about these? I was thinking about the speedcradle. Another seat that is to my taste I believe (all just from pics) is the Le Pera Silhouette Bullet. Anyone like / have experience with these?
I think that a Fatboy seat should fit a Train. I have changed the seat you see in my sig for a stock Fatboy seat on my Standard. The additional screws you mention are presumably the two at either side of the drivers section. These screws locate in the frame in threaded holes My Standard had plastic plugs inserted in them. I just removed the plastic plugs and got the appropriate sized bolts to fit.
I assume that the same will apply to a train
Thanks Grendel UK. I will look at the framesometime this week. Just wondering if you could remove the side screws from the fat boy seat all together? Not sure though if theyare needed to stabalize the larger seat to the frame, or will the front slide in and rear screw be enough? What do you think?
I would think you would need to use the two screws. The seat I have is a two piece - I tried it in place without the side screws and it seemed to have too much play for my liking. The seat I removed was a one-piece seat and was obviously designed not to have the side mounts, but I would use the side mounting screws on the Fatboy seat if I were you.
