you"re gonna need new (longer cables), and I would go with metal bushings. Bushings go right were your bars attach to your triple trees. solid bushings are better then the rubber ones in my opinion when you are running apes.

that's pretty much it man.

are you getting your new bars with internal wires or are you gonna run the wires on the outside of the bars?

I have the 12" apes on my Bob and I continue to rack my brain as to why MORE HD bikes don't have it automatically. Back in the old days, they called them handlebars, today they call them mini-apes. I'll never ride with anything else. Even if I get different bike someday, By God, they'll have 12" minis. That's MY 2 cents.

On mini apes such as 12" and lower, replace the stock rubber bushings with polyurethane bushings. It's more solid than the stock rubber yet will still absorb vibrations. No need for solid bushings with only 12" bars.

How about 16" bars, solid or poly? Where do you guys buy your bushings, straight from MoCo?

Did the 12" Ape set up you saw have 4" risers? Was it a HD kit?

I saw a Street Bob with the new HD 12" Ape kit (which has 4" risers) and it looked great.

Thanks

Can't wait to put on 12" santee black apes on.
Going with a 1.5" riser. Anything bigger than 2" looks stupid I feel.

To the OP with 12" you might have enough slack. I though those customs came with 10" minis? Good luck enjoy and ride that bike! Got any pics of it?
