Default Remove Battery without setting Off Alarm

Hi there. I have just taken delivery of my new fatboy 07.
I live in London and it has been raining for the last 2 weeks so I not even had a chance to ride it around the block.

I have bought a battery tender to keep the charge on the battery full.

No this is the problem.

My dealer says put it into transport mode and I should be able to remove battery without setting off alarm.

have tried with him on the phone but no good. THE ALARM sure is loud and I have yet to connect to battery terminals.

He says bring it in so there can have a look. But it looks like rain for the next week or so

Is there a knack to do this I have read the instructions several times and still no success.

Or am I just plain stupid with old age.

Any tips would be great.

I have the security system on my FatBoy (which I don't use living way out here in the boondocks), but I thought the purpose of the Transport Mode was for moving the vehicle with the security system armed so it wouldn't trip the alarm.

I might be wrong, but couldn't you just use the key fob to disarm the system?

I had this problem i dont know if its the same but on my 06 sporty there is a pig tail lead that you can just plug a battery tender straight into without having to touch the battery and it doesnt set the alarm off. hope this helps

The 07's alarms have an auto set. The key fobs don't have a button to turn
them on or off.

I had the same problem. Just unplug the connection to the siren and then plug it back inwhen you get the battery reconnected.I know this is a work around and you should be able to disable the alarm system.

Hi from Wales.....

My 02 Dyna suffered from the same problem and my dealer said that when connecting and disconecting the battery it will happen.

His advice was to put up with it(I did this by using same industrial ear defenders I had knocking about - other than that buy some cheap earplugs from Boots.......

My 06 Fatboy came with the battery tender connector lead already supplied and fittedfor free - that doesn't happen very often in my experience. It may be a sneaky way of getting you to buy the battery tender which wasnt supplied - but I had one anyway.

Don't you just love our weather!!!!

It's been pi....ng down for days with howling winds - perfect riding weather!!!

Welcome from London too

PS when you do manage to get the bike to the dealer (which dealer did you buy from?) get them to fit the lead that means you don't need to access the battery at all.
Mines currently tucked away and plugged in to my Optimate

ROLL ON SPRING!!!!!
