Softail Slim Thoughts?
I don't know much about the Slimline but from what I've seen of it, it's basically a blacked out Deluxe with different fenders. I'm not a huge fan of it though because it just doesn't have that "pop" like some of the other bikes. Kinda boring if you ask me.
I just ordered a Black Denim version myself (with a few extra bits and pieces), however, they aren't available in Aust until Sept. I was happily convinced after a test ride!
I'm moving up from a 48, which in my opinion, the Slim is a bigger, cooler version of the 48 with more HP. Love the old school/bobber look. Can't wait.

So I went to my dealer today, a customer who had a Slim let me sit on it to test the fit. The seat height is actually lower than a Sportster 883 Superlow! But I loved every bit of the Slim, ordered mine, not coming in until August, plenty of time to plan my mods....thanks everyone--
The major reason they went to skinnier tires is not because of handling, but because of cost. Everyone loved the rear tires on the custom, until they had to replace them. 335.00 dollars for one tire ain't good, when you would normally pay 300 for a set.
That being said, there's another tradeoff. The handling may be better, but that fat rear corners pretty well, and is more comfy when cruising than the skinny rubber. One of the reasons a lot of rigids run a bigger rear tire. It seems to soak up a little more from the road. Most sport bikes run at least a 180. Nobody complains about the way they handle.
