I have scoured the entire world wide web and have come up empty handed. I need to replace the stator in my 97 Fatboy. I have everything torn down and ordered a new kit off ebay.
Heres my issue. I cannot for the life of me get the plug back through the block. I have used grease, primary oil, chain lube, even shed a few tears in there to see it it would show mercy for me.
Long story short the bike hates me and I have screwed up my new stator plug . Everywere I have read and videos I have watched says just to "pop it on through". They must be hercules because I can get it to about the first rib of the plug and thats it. New stator is on order and I will continue to practice with the one I have ruined. But if someone can please tell me the trick to simply pop this plug right on through it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the video post. I watched it several times while waiting for the parts to come in. Actually how I was able to do the tear down. I think its just an aftermarket crap product. I'll go back with HD and see if I have better luck. Should have known better than trying to get around making a donation to my local dealership. They may get me on parts but not on labor. Lol
For what it's worth, there's also an EVO classic forum. They might have seen something like this before. You might want to drop in there. Just check the forums link at the top of the page, under Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
