I have a 2012 Fat Boy Lo, my first bike. I was looking over the bike and noticed an empty female electrical socket hanging sort of below the handlebars on the left side of the bike (see pictures below - first pic has socket circled in yellow, second pic is a closeup). Can anyone tell me what that socket is for?

Just a guess- OP, but H-D has many models and one family of wire harness. So, again- my guess is for options offered on the softail model variations- that your bike does not have (heated grips, AUX lighting, etc)

 

If they are like the 2011, fender tip light connectionIf

 

+1...I just installed the Independent Control Auxiliary Lamp Wire Harness and it taps in to the tip light connector.

 

Or you can add pretty well any device you want that requires a 12v power supply and use it. Cigarette lighter, phone charger, siren, neon beer sign, mosquito repellent, ugly lady repellent, hot babe attractant, etc, etc, etc..................

 

Can it be the connector for a battery tender?

 

My fatboy is a 2002, but that's right where mine has an empty connector for passing lamps, which our bikes don't come with.
