I have a 1998 fatboy that I bought in 2000. (3000 miles on it when I bought it, 60k now) It has been and still is my dream bike. Last year I started to feel vibration in my butt and my feet. My mecahnic did something and I managed a fabulous ride to Sturgis. So far this year I am back to the vibrations only now it is vibrating the butt, feet and hands. I am itchy once I go over 60 -65mph. Under that I am fine. I am a middle aged woman and do not do the work myself but any advice for my mechanic would be welcome.
Thanks,
Terri

Reason: mistakes
Yeah check engine mounts, tires for cupping, at 60K every nut and bolt should be checked. Is it vibration only or is there any new tapping or knocking sound that accompanies it? Handlebars have a vibration dampening bushing in the risers that should be checked too. Has the steering neck been greased as it should? What about wheel bearings? How long have they been running? Can you duplicate the vibration by reving it in neutral? If you can you can eliminate the bearings and narrow it down to the engine and primary components.
The motor mounts on a Softail do not have rubber and are solid mounted to the frame. They can still get loose and cause vibration though. I would also check the front tire for balance and cupping, and last but not least, check the belt tension, as it can also cause vibes.

That's correct no rubber in softail mounts. The bolts have been known to get loose and cause vibs. They should be checked and if loose completely remove, clean, apply new threadlocker, reinstall and torque.
Please post what the problem was. It always helps the board for troubleshooting similar problems.
