Default New Seat

I just got my new Sadlemen Explorer seat and the install instructions say to take the bumbers off of my original seat and put them on the new seat.

My problem is two fold. One - I don't have the original seat as I bought this bike used and it only came with two custom seats. Two - I don't know if the original seat even has bumpers to move.

Can anyone tell me if the original HD Softail seat (98 FXSTC) has bumpers on the pan and if so, where they are located?

I can probably find bumpers somewhere, I just wouldn't know where to locate them on the pan.

Thanks for the help.

If you can find some one with a parts book for youre bike it will tell you if the stock seat had bumpers and give you the part numbers for them, it should even show were they went.

Gregg
I would contact Saddlemen and tell them to send you the bumpers. You bought a seat and should get the entire thing because of your situation and not having the origional seat, they should not send the seat without the bumpers

I put a saddlemen seat on my Deuce and I didn't use the rubber bumpers. The bumpers on my stock seat really weren't doing much anyway, and I was too lazy to drill the holes in the new seat pan to install them No problems at all. Just put the seat on and ride.

GaryC,

That's what I did. I think I'm going to line the pan with some felt to protect the paint.

How did the Explore seat look on your Dyna? I am a little afraid of the width on the rear seat. Any pictures?

That is a strange way to sell a new seat.
