I just bought a 1991 Heritage Classic and runs great but the other day I started to have problems with back fire and hestitation. The only thing that I did was put a higher grade of gas in the tank.
Could this have caused my problem or could be something bigger.
define "higher octane".. if you're talking 103 or race fuel or something, they may contain lead in the fuel which could cause problems.. shouldn't need higher than 91 or 93 (depending on where you are and what they have)
If that 93 doesn't get used too much in your area, you might have got a tank full of contaminated fuel. We only have one vendor, citgo, that sells 93 and they have a steady line of bikers keeping it turned over pretty regularly.
