do you need to re-install those metal tubes?
(spring collar) when using the progressive drop kit?
my old springs were smaller is this really needed?

not sure what you mean about the spring collar. I dont know if the rocker front end is different than my fxst. But when i installed my progressive drop in all that was required was dropping the forks, pulling out my old springs and replacing them with the progressive springs+washers+the spacers. That was it.

the springcollar is a tube like piece of metal tthat actually shot out of the tube when dissassembly dont really know if it goes back in or not, & no the rocker is different (aka bastard child of sloptail; family) LOL

I think what you're referring to is the spring preload spacer. This sets a constant tension on the springs. On my softie, progressive provided 3/4" PVC spacers that needed to be cut down per the specs in their instructions. Any instructions with the progressive kit? IIRC, I had to cut the spacers to project 1/2" above the top of the tube.

According to their site, your bike uses the kit 10-2002 which is the same kit as for the dynas? Here's a link to their literature page, maybe something in one of these instruction sheets can lead ya in the right direction? Didn't see anything specifically for the rocker in any of these, but they might at least help.

D'oh! Forgot the link. Here ya go.

Ya beat me to the post! If it's calling for no spacer, then the metal collar shouldn't be needed. The PVC spacer is intended to be used in place of the stock metal spacer. As long as the spring extends beyond the top of the tube, and the cap nut puts some kind of preload in it, I would think that it'll be just fine.

maybe im sayin wrong stuff, the manual has this piece that sits on top of the big washer, then the spring, very unclear in the manual & the progressive directions say to
only re use the washer
the spacer is definately taking place of the spring collar, & it says to 86 spacer
wait i feel la vibe from a rocker owner mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

Dropping in the springs should be in this order: spring, large washer, preload spacer (if required), 2nd large washer, then tube cap. At least that is what it was on mine.

sounds like this spring collar is acting as the spacer, cuz the new springs were both larger
now i think im understanding why/how this lowers the front 2" cuz the spring collar is disregarded and there was slight pressure loading tube cap so maybe im freakin im glad im writing this up cuz this was a fun pita LOL ok im the ghuinnea pig
