Default Started the Ape install but have a question

I've started my ape install. Everything is going good. But while I wait on my manual to get here why is it necessary to open the derby cover and and adjust clutch if the cable is reinstalled in the same position? I gotten the clutch adjusted pretty good and can feel the gears changing when I do it by hand. One on the clutch and one on the shifter. My garage gave me the wrong size trans cover gasket so for the time being I just reused the old one. So far so good with no leaks but should I go ahead and reinstall a new gasket? I'm picking one up today just in case. Also I've replaced exhaust before but is it possible to reuse the exhaust gasket that are already in place or should I buy new ones? Not trying to be cheap just asking, if so I'll pick some up with the trans gasket. $2 for a gasket isnt going to break the bank, just wondering. Has anyone used one of the "one man" brake bleeding kits to bleed the front brake? Its the only one I could find at the auto shop. Havent tried it yet. By the way trying to empty a full tank of 93 octane is the must fun I've had during this project!!! I've smelled like gas for two days now.

Do not reuse exhaust gaskets. It's not worth it. As for the other gaskets- do a visual inspection. If they're good then reuse.

As for the one man brake bleeder. Never used but would be interested in opinions.

^ +1 on that!

I have used the Mitivac a few times it works well but for brake bleeding after the lines are full nothing works better than Speed Bleeders IMO.

For me the speed bleeders worked more effectively than the Mitivac system. For some reason the Mitivac always left some air in the system.

I would have to agree that the speed bleeders have always worked best for me too.

I am think about apes as well. Post back with the specifics of what you are using and how it goes.

Another yes for the Speed Bleeders. As for the gaskets...I'm of the opinion that NO gaskets should be reused. For just a few bucks, it's just not worth the hastle. Hell, even for piece of mind while I'm riding.

I usually fill the reservoir, pump the lever a few times then tie it back over night with the bars turned full left. Come back the next morning and the brake is bleed. I just did it again a few weeks ago when I installed the apes on my Deluxe.
